Being a FAIRTRADE Borough
What it means to become a FAIRTRADE borough :
- The council must pass a resolution supporting FAIRTRADE and agree to serve FAIRTRADE products in its meetings and in its offices and canteens. In Sutton this resolution was passed on 24 January 2005.
- In Sutton at least 2 FAIRTRADE products must be available from 36 retailers and 18 catering outlets.
The Sutton FAIRTRADE steering group was originally led by the Council but the group is now community led. It includes representatives from local business, voluntary groups, churches, schools and the Council. The group meets 6 weekly and welcomes anyone who is interested to come along and listen and / or to become involved if they wish. See events page for details.
